The first time I listened to Utada Hikaru’s “Be My Last,” I didn’t know what to think of it. It was a far cry from Utada’s usual electronic pop, steeped instead in the rock influences bubble under Hikki’s Japanese-language chart-toppers.

So I listened to it again. And again. And again.

I can safely say it’s my favorite Utada Hikaru song.
