When I moved to Austin, Texas in 1997, I promised myself I would stay there at least five years before I would decide if I wanted to stay. 2002 arrived, and I wanted to leave but couldn’t. I didn’t have the cash.
It turned out the following five years weren’t too bad. Then the weather got worse along with the allergies. In 2009, I made a plan to leave, and in 2012, I moved to Seattle.
Before then, I channeled my frustrations with Austin into lyrics, some dating as far back as 2008. It became the theme of the album, which would be named Travis after Travis County.
